On first glance, the shapely, long, totem-like pole appears to be nothing more than an abstract sculpture to be placed next to a fireplace and ignored. However, on closer inspection, one can see that the grooves in the form are designed to be sawn. In a few simple cuts, Do cut can be transformed into a stool, a vase that rocks, an umbrella-holder or a lampshade … many more possibilities come to light on deeper thought. The act of destruction of the object gives birth to new functions.

Do cut se présente sous la forme d'un totem abstrait, qui ne dévoile pas sa fonction au premier regard. C'est en l'observant de plus près l'utilisateur découvre qu’il peut décider des différents objets : tabouret, abat-jour, vase ou autre, qui naîtront de la découpe de cette colonne creuse. Ainsi, c’est la déconstruction de l’objet qu’il donnera vie à d’autres. La position passive et contemplative face aux objets de design est remise en question. Pour passer à l'action, la scie est fournie.
